I may need to turn off LJ's birthday notifications, or finally go through and "unfriend" the accounts of friends who have passed on, because there have been a number of unwelcome reminders recently I wasn't really prepared for.

I know it's stupid, but I really just don't want to unfriend them.

You're not stupid. I can't bring myself to either. Mine are more on Facebook, but it's the same problem.
